In many regions, the persistent shortage of food has become a global concern, largely driven by economic and environmental pressures. This essay will discuss the major causes of this issue and propose practical solutions to alleviate it.
One significant cause is the increasingly erratic (VN: thất thường, khó đoán; EN: unpredictable and irregular) climate, which has severely undermined agricultural productivity. Prolonged droughts and unexpected floods have destroyed crops on a large scale, leaving farmers with limited harvests and unstable incomes. Additionally, rapid urbanisation has led to the widespread depletion (VN: cạn kiệt trên diện rộng; EN: the large-scale reduction or exhaustion of resources) of arable land as farmland is converted into residential and industrial areas. As a result, the world’s agricultural output struggles to keep pace with the ever-growing (VN: tăng liên tục; EN: continuously increasing) global population, widening the gap between supply and demand>> Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR
To address this problem, governments should invest heavily in climate-resilient (VN: chống chịu khí hậu; EN: able to withstand climate impacts) farming technologies, such as drought-tolerant crops and smart irrigation systems. These innovations can stabilise food production even under harsh environmental conditions. Another effective solution is strengthening international cooperation to reduce food waste through improved storage, transportation, and distribution systems. In many developing countries, a large portion of harvests is lost before reaching consumers, so enhancing logistics would significantly increase food availability. Governments can also provide subsidies to small-scale farmers, enabling them to adopt modern techniques and improve their yields.
In conclusion, food shortages stem primarily from environmental instability and land loss, but targeted technological investment and better global cooperation can effectively mitigate this issue.
