IELTS TUTOR gợi ý bài tham khảo:

Nowadays, many parents tend to exert excessive pressure on their children to achieve success. This trend stems from various social and psychological motivations, but it often has far-reaching consequences for children’s development.

One of the main reasons why parents adopt such a high-pressure parenting style (lối nuôi dạy con đầy áp lực – a parenting approach that imposes high expectations and demands) is the status-conscious culture (văn hoá coi trọng địa vị – a culture where social standing matters a lot) prevalent in many societies. Parents often equate (đồng nhất – to consider one thing to be the same as another) their children's achievements with their own self-worth and social standing. For instance, in many Asian societies, parents boast about their children’s academic excellence during family reunions, considering it a badge of honor (niềm tự hào – a symbol of pride or achievement). In such environments, children are pushed to attain top results to safeguard (bảo vệ – to protect from harm or danger) the family's reputation. Another key factor is the fiercely competitive world (thế giới cạnh tranh khốc liệt – a world where people must strive constantly to stay ahead), where parents believe that without all-rounded competence (năng lực toàn diện – ability in both academic and extracurricular fields), their children might be left behind (bị tụt lại phía sau – to fail to keep up with others). My aunt Ly, for example, enrolls her son Michael in a variety of after-school classes, from piano to robotics, in a bid to shape him into a well-rounded prodigy (thần đồng toàn diện – a highly talented child in various areas), though this often leaves him exhausted and frustrated.>> tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?

This trend, however, brings more harm than good to young individuals. Under constant pressure, children may suffer from chronic anxiety (lo âu kéo dài – long-term intense worry) and even fall into mental health crises (khủng hoảng sức khoẻ tinh thần – serious mental health issues). According to the WHO, one in five adolescents in Sri Lanka struggles with depression due to parental overexpectation (kỳ vọng quá mức của cha mẹ – unrealistically high expectations from parents). Furthermore, when children are taught to value only success, they develop a crippling fear of failure (nỗi sợ thất bại tê liệt – a paralyzing fear of making mistakes), which inhibits their personal growth. A child who is never allowed to fail will lack resilience (sự kiên cường – the ability to recover from setbacks) and adaptability (khả năng thích nghi – the skill to adjust to new conditions), both of which are indispensable for navigating the uncertain real-world landscape (môi trường thực tế đầy biến động – the unpredictable challenges of life).

In conclusion, while parental pressure may stem from good intentions, it is largely a negative development that can severely affect children’s mental well-being and long-term success.
