Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

  • Overall:
    • While spending for food, fuel and power, clothing and footware, and personal goods declined, the inverse was true for the remaining categories, with only household goods unchanged. 
    • Although spending on food was by far the most common in 1968, by 2018 leisure occupied the majority of the family budget, followed closely by housing. >> IELTS TUTOR lưu ý Cách dùng động từ "occupy"

    • In 1968, 35% of the wages of families in this area was allocated for food. 
    • Spending on housing, clothing and footware was equal to 10% each, and the figures for leisure, transport, personal goods and household goods were relatively the same (around 8%). 
    • Only a minority of weekly income was used for fuel and power, with around 3%.

    • In 2018, families tripled their spending on leisure to about 23%, which was highest.
