Introduction
Today’s media landscape is often dominated by negative content, ranging from crime reports to political scandals. I totally agree that news outlets should present more positive stories because this shift can foster a more optimistic (lạc quan – showing hopefulness) public mindset and enhance social cohesion.
The first reason is that increasing the coverage of uplifting events can counteract the harmful effects of the constant stream of sensationalised (giật gân – exaggerated to attract attention) reporting that currently shapes public perception. When audiences are repeatedly exposed to disasters and conflicts, they may develop a distorted worldview, believing that society is more dangerous than it actually is. By contrast, highlighting achievements in science, humanitarian work and community success stories can restore a more balanced (cân bằng – showing fairness and proportion) sense of reality. For example, reports on breakthroughs in medical research or acts of kindness within communities can inspire hope and motivate individuals to contribute positively to society.>> Form đăng kí giải đề thi thật IELTS 4 kĩ năng kèm bài giải bộ đề 100 đề PART 2 IELTS SPEAKING quý đang thi (update hàng tuần) từ IELTS TUTOR
Another compelling argument is that promoting good news can strengthen unity and well-being. Positive stories have a ripple effect, encouraging pro-social behaviour and emotional resilience. When media organisations actively spotlight constructive initiatives and public-spirited (vì cộng đồng – showing concern for society) actions, they help reinforce shared values and create a more harmonious (hài hòa – peaceful and cooperative) social atmosphere. This is particularly important in today’s rapidly changing world, where anxiety and uncertainty are already widespread. Therefore, prioritising good news is not merely a matter of entertainment; it is a societal responsibility.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the media should broadcast more positive stories because this approach benefits both individuals and society as a whole.
