III. Phân tích

Nowadays, whether children should be allowed to use mobile phones has become a contentious (adj: causing or likely to cause disagreement – gây tranh cãi) issue. While some parents argue that these devices are useful for learning and communication, I side with those who fear they may bring more harm than good.

On the one hand, there are compelling reasons why parents encourage their children to own a phone. Firstly, mobile phones serve as a multi-functional (adj: having many different functions – đa chức năng) tool, enabling children to access educational apps, online dictionaries, and e-books, which can enrich their academic knowledge. Secondly, phones provide a sense of reassurance (n: the act of making someone feel less worried – sự trấn an) to parents, as they can keep in touch with their children at any time, particularly in emergencies. Finally, exposure to modern technology at an early age is seen as a way to prepare youngsters for the technology-driven (adj: strongly influenced by technology – bị chi phối bởi công nghệ) world they will inevitably face.>> IELTS TUTOR gợi ý tham khảo CẦN VIẾT & THU ÂM BAO NHIÊU BÀI ĐỂ ĐẠT 8.0 SPEAKING & 7.0 WRITING?

On the other hand, I strongly believe that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. Excessive screen time can lead to detrimental (adj: causing harm or damage – gây hại) impacts on children’s eyesight and sleeping patterns. Moreover, mobile phones often expose youngsters to inappropriate (adj: not suitable or proper – không phù hợp) content and cyberbullying (n: the use of electronic communication to bully – bắt nạt qua mạng), which can damage their mental well-being. In addition, frequent phone usage may hinder children from developing face-to-face (adj: involving people being close together and looking at each other – trực tiếp) communication skills, which are far more valuable in real-life interactions. In short, instead of being an indispensable (adj: absolutely necessary – không thể thiếu) educational aid, mobile phones can easily become a double-edged sword (idiom: something that has both positive and negative effects – con dao hai lưỡi).

In conclusion, despite some undeniable benefits, I firmly hold that allowing children to use mobile phones at an early age is more harmful than beneficial.
