Overall, apartments were by far the most popular type of housing in Liverpool, while semi-detached houses were the top choice in both London and Manchester. Looking first at apartments, over 55% of Liverpool residents preferred this type, significantly higher than in London (around 30%) and Manchester (roughly 20%). This made apartments the only category where Liverpool outperformed the other two cities.
By contrast, in the remaining categories, Liverpool consistently showed the lowest figures. For terraced houses, London had the highest percentage at about 20%, followed by Manchester (12%) and Liverpool (9%). A similar pattern was seen in detached houses, with Manchester leading at 35%, while Liverpool had just under 15%. Semi-detached houses were the most favored in both London and Manchester (close to 40%), whereas only around 18% of Liverpool residents preferred them.
