    • The largest portion of the US government's research budget was allocated to Health, whereas the least amount was directed towards General Science exploration.

    • Commencing at $10 billion in 1980, the government's investment in Health research exhibited a slight decline in the subsequent four years, followed by a continuous upward trend reaching a peak of nearly $25 billion in 2004. 
    • Despite a decrease to approximately $18 billion in 2008, spending on Health research remained significantly higher than in any other category.
