Among the remaining technologies, telephone ownership started at around 20% in 1997 and then rose slightly to about 30% in 1999, before increasing more noticeably to roughly 75% by the end of the period, thereby maintaining its position above computers, which remained the second-ranked category. Internet access rose sharply, jumping from only 10% in 1997 to nearly 60%, making it a fast-growing (fast-growing: rising quickly; tăng trưởng nhanh) household technology. Meanwhile, the DVD player, which started at around 25% in 1997, fell slightly to about 15% in 1998, before increasing steadily to reach 50% by the end of the period.
