        • It will be more difficult for them to make their own well-informed, responsible decisions.
      • Example: A study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that young adults who lived with their parents were more likely to exhibit dependent behaviors, such as relying on their parents for financial support and emotional validation. They were also less likely to have developed independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.

      • Main idea:  the autonomy and self-efficacy of youngsters can also diminish
      • Supporting idea:

        • Compared to other counterparts, they are less confident when choosing between different options.
      • Example: A study published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry found that children with overprotective parents were more likely to exhibit lower levels of self-efficacy and autonomy. They were also less likely to take risks, explore new experiences, and make their own decisions.

      • Main idea 1: staying under the same roof can help forge stronger bonds between family members
        • Supporting idea: 
          • Living together provides more opportunities for face-to-face communication. 
          • Regular interactions foster better understanding, empathy, and communication skills among family members.
        • Example: For example, a newly graduated student can get advice, discuss problems at work, and confide possible setbacks to his parents.
      • Main idea 2:  their living expenses can be reduced
        • Supporting idea:

          • Young adults can save some money for other purposes such as further study or investment.
        • Example: A study by the Pew Research Center found that in 2020, 52% of young adults aged 18 to 29 lived with their parents or other family members. This is up from 46% in 2010. The study also found that young adults who lived with family members were more likely to be employed and less likely to have student loan debt.
