        • Example: For instance, an area which countries would like to drill is the Antarctic, home to many glaciers and animals such as polar bears and penguins. Drilling here would harm the habitat, and in particular, any spillages would be disastrous to the environment.

        • Supporting idea: Some of adverse effects include the irreversible degradation of vast areas of land, destruction of natural habitat and pollution.
        • Example: The Florida panther, an endangered species, faces habitat loss due to human development, disrupting its migration, destroying essential resources, and increasing road mortality. This illustrates how habitat loss jeopardizes not only individual species but also vital ecological processes, posing a threat to biodiversity and ecosystem stability.
